Federally Facilitated Community Health Centers
If you don’t have insurance and cannot get covered through Medicaid or CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program) through your local Department of Social Services – you should be able to get low-cost health care at a nearby federally facilitated community health center. This may be the only option for a large number of people in NC since our state did not expand medicaid. How much you pay depends on your income (sliding scale.)
Community health centers are located in both urban and rural areas. They provide: Prenatal care, Baby shots, General primary care and Referrals to specialized care, including mental health, substance abuse, and HIV/AIDS.

Help paying for prescriptions is also available. Your local healthcare clinics can help with this. Or you can search for other nearby free clinics, sliding scale clinics, or low-cost clinics below.
